The Canadian Gay Open (CGO) presented by Babolat is the one of the largest tennis tournament in North America sanctioned by the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) World Tour, a global organization.
The CGO presented by Babolat is affiliated with the Toronto Lesbian & Gay Tennis Association.
The CGO presented by Babolat is an annual tournament, which offers singles and doubles competition. The level of competition ranges from beginners D level to more experienced C, B, and A levels, to highly competitive and advanced Open level.
The tournament is played over three days during the Victoria day long weekend, with all finals played on Monday. Traditionally, it has been held in Toronto at the Mayfair Sports Clubs.
The CGO presented by Babolat also offers social events, including a Draw Party (players meet and greet) on the Friday evening, a banquet on the Sunday evening, and a post-banquet get-together.
A raffle is organized during the banquet to raise funds for a local charity. The beneficiary of our fund raising efforts in 2022 will again be AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT). We have donated over $10,000 to ACT since 2017.

From 2013 to 2016, we have donated over $8,000 to the Philpott Inner City Children's Tennis Fund, Canada's only charity dedicated to children and tennis. Every $25 raised enables them to offer a week of free tennis lessons to a child. We are pleased that our contribution over the last four years has provided a tennis camp experience for almost 325 children.
Previous charity beneficiaries also include Hearing Every Youth through Youth (HEYY), the Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Youth Line and the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives (CLGA).
The CGO presented by Babolat has a capacity for 180 competitors and has reached maximum capacity the past fourteen years. In 2019, 33% of players came from the Greater Toronto Area, 5% form the rest of Ontario, 15% from Montreal, 4% from the rest of Canada, 34% from the USA, and 8% from international location, including Australia, France, Germany, Honkg Kong, New Zealand, Spain, and Thailand.
